About Eye Foundation of UK
According to The World Health Organization (WHO), 80% of the world’s 45 million blind people live in developing countries. The Eye Foundation of UK (EFUK) mission is to go where the need is greatest — often rural and remote areas of developing countries where there is no medical care or where the cost of care is high.
EFUK provides medical eye care and treatment that is both affordable and accessible to all on equal terms, with the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness, especially in children. We take extra steps to ensure that our treatment is of the highest quality – comparable to that provided by the best hospitals in the world.
Meet the leadership
EFA UK was founded in 1992 by the renowned ophthalmologist Dr V.K. Raju, who is also a clinical professor at West Virginia University.
